Project earns students national recognition
Maui High School students Gabriela Blackwell, Sara Suzuki, Pauline Piso and Moon Lee participated in the National Student Safety Program conference July 13-15 in Portland, Maine, where they competed nationally with other schools for safety projects completed during the 2012-13 school year.
The students are part of a club at Maui High School called Students for Safety. They took first place at the conference for their project, called Parents as Role Models.
The project is an interactive presentation given by the club members to educate parents about the influence they have on their children when it comes to driving.
It was presented originally at a Maui High School driver education parent night event.
