Dijeridu focus of workshop at library

An “Introduction to Dijeridu Workshop” will be presented at Wailuku Public Library beginning at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Hawaii Pacific Room.

Wes (Forest) Hada, Maui’s foremost dijeridu performer and teacher, will conduct the free two-hour workshop. Hada will discuss the background and history of this aboriginal Australian instrument, tell an aboriginal story, and demonstrate how to make and play the instrument.

Hada has more than 17 years of experience teaching and performing throughout Maui with bands including “Lost at Last” and “Jivatma.” He will invite members of the audience to play the dijeridu.

The Maui Friends of the Library is sponsoring the workshop. It is suitable for ages 5 and older. All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

The program schedule is subject to change.
