Annual festival draws hundreds
FIRST PHOTO: Angelo Rebudal mixes a batch of chow fun while Cindy Akana observes at the 31st St. John’s Kula Festival in Keokea late last month. The members of Good Shepherd Church in Wailuku were helping their fellow Episcopalian church members at the annual celebration, cooking up the tasty chow fun based on Harley Ching’s famed recipe. Ching, a member of St. John’s, died in early August. Both Rebudal and Akana are members of A Cup of Cold Water, a care-van outreach program that offers food and clothing for those in need on Maui.
