County website wins ‘Best of the Web’ award
Maui County’s website has taken second place in the County Portal category of the 2013 Best of the Web awards.
This is the eighth national award for the county’s website, www.mauicounty.gov, and the third year that the Maui County website was selected for a Best of the Web award.
Maui County took fourth place in 2010 and was listed as a finalist in 2012.
According to an announcement by the Center for Digital Government, the awards recognize city, county and state governments for outstanding portals and websites based on innovation, functionality, productivity and performance.
“The recent advances in the digital domain mean it is vital for government to provide effective online access to services and information,” Mayor Alan Arakawa said. “Many thanks to our IT personnel for making sure our county website runs smoothly, and to our departments for providing the content that our residents, businesses and visitors need and want. National recognition such as this award provides valuable feedback.”
The award is part of the Digital Government Achievement Awards that are presented by the Republic’s Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government.
