Keiki Halloween Parade in Lahaina

The 35th annual Lahaina Keiki Halloween Costume Parade down Front Street to Banyan Tree Park will take place Thursday.

Keiki will line up at the corner of Papalaua and Front streets at 4:15 p.m., and the parade will begin at 4:30 p.m.

Children will receive a congratulatory ribbon, a bag of treats and a walk across a stage at Banyan Tree Park to show off their costumes and provide parents an opportunity for pictures.

This year’s grand marshal is Don Rosenthal, who for over 30 years has devoted himself to West Maui youth athletics.

Some of the highlights for the parade are to include Mayor Alan Arakawa, bagpiper Paul Tangnan, the Shriners and their tiny cars (with a surprise rider), the Lahainaluna High School Marching Band and attendants, a Maui Fire Department vehicle and “costume characters,” the OliOli whale bus provided by Travel Plaza Transportation, and of course keiki in costumes.

The parade is sponsored by Soroptimist International of West Maui, the Rotary Club of Lahaina, and the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise.

In preparation for the parade, Soroptimist International of West Maui will be stuffing candy bags at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the West Maui Senior Center.

The candy bags to be distributed to keiki on parade day. To volunteer for this activity or to learn more about Soroptimist International of West Maui, contact President Kathy Perry at 298-2625 or, or Vice President Rose Bento at 387-7043 or
