Konomi Dance Works will perform today

Maui Mall’s Family Sundays event will be from noon to 2 p.m. today. It will open with a demonstration by Konomi Dance Works. Different styles of dance, including hip-hop and Korean pop, also known as K-pop, will be showcased.

Other activities include a family scavenger hunt; onstage trivia by Read Aloud America;

Free healthy snacks for kids provided by Whole Foods Market; Yu-Gi-Oh! duelist league tournament and free workshop; free keiki crafts by Maui United Way; Whole Foods Market Harvest Festival with face painting, apple bobbing and Maui Classic Cruisers car show; and storytelling by Read Aloud America in Whole Foods Market immediately after the Family Sundays program.

Maui Family Sundays will include the announcement of the student winner of an iPad Mini. Outstanding students are nominated by their teachers.

Last month, Maui Mall awarded Kalama Intermediate 7th-grader Lilia Romkee an iPad Mini. She was nominated by her Hawaiian language immersion teacher Kiyani Yasak, who said she has been “very patient and supportive of her self, classmates and teachers.

“This year, she made the Hawaiian language immersion volleyball team,” Yasak said. “She and her teammates won their first game. I can tell that she loves the sport and playing with her peers with the support of her family and friends.”

Maui teachers are invited to nominate an outstanding student to be recognized and entered to win an iPad Mini at the Nov. 24 Family Sundays event. This will be the last chance to nominate a student this year.

Student winners chosen between the months of March and November will have a chance to win a MacBook Air notebook Jan. 26 during the Maui Mall Family Sundays finale event.
