University of Philippines alumni to plant a tree
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Hawaii, in cooperation with the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce, will have a tree planting activity at Kepaniwai Park Heritage Garden at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The group will plant an “Ilang-Ilang” tree which is common in the Philippines and famous for its fragrant flowers that yield oil used in the perfumery industry.
A group of alumni from Honolulu will attend the event. After the tree planting, an organizational meeting will be held to formally organize the association’s Maui chapter.
All University of the Philippines alumni residing in Maui County are invited to attend this activity, according to an announcement.
Refreshments will be served.
