Filipino hotel employees recognized at event

Thirty-five hotel employees, including housekeepers and porters, were recognized at the Binhi At Ani Outstanding Hotel Employees Banquet and Recognition Ball.

Work in the hotels can be physically demanding and requires diverse skills, said Cecille Patao Piros, president of Binhi at Ani. The group’s officers and board decided to recognize outstanding Filipino housekeepers from Maui’s hotels.

There were three awardees from each hotel in three different categories.

More than 400 attended the event Oct. 20, including Mayor Alan Arakawa and his wife, Ann; County Council Chairwoman Gladys Baisa; council Vice Chairman Bob Carroll; Council Member Don Guzman; Finance Director Danny Agsalog and Deputy Director of Communication Ryan Piros.
