Josh Jerman scholarship program seeks applicants

The Josh Jerman Foundation is accepting applications for the 10th annual Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship, a program that encourages college-bound students to use their educations to benefit Maui County.

Founded by Josh Jerman of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers, the Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship program awards three high school seniors $1,000 each based on their plans to contribute to Maui County’s workforce after graduation.

To be eligible for this year’s scholarship, students must be Maui County residents who plan to enroll in a full-time program at an accredited four-year college or university for the 2014-15 academic year.

In addition, applicants must demonstrate financial need and dedication to the achievement of their personal and educational goals.

To date, the program has awarded more than $29,000 in scholarships to Maui, Molokai and Lanai high school seniors.

Recipients of the 2013 Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship include Alicia Ballesteros of St. Anthony Junior-Senior High School, Lesley Escobar of Molokai High School and Francisco Jiminez-Salgado of Lahainaluna High School.

To apply, students can download and complete the application at or pick up a copy from their school counselors.

The application deadline is Feb. 20.

Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award by mail by the end of March.
