Service project in crater seeks volunteers

The Friends of Haleakala National Park are seeking volunteers for a service project in Haleakala Crater Dec. 7 through 9.

Participants will hike into and out of the crater, stay free in Kapalaoa Cabin, and work on protection of native plants in the crater wilderness. In addition to helping the environment and enjoying the fellowship of the volunteer group, participants will also have some time for hiking, star-gazing, photography or just relaxation.

The park entrance and cabin fees are waived for volunteers doing service work with the Friends of Haleakala National Park. Participants must be able to hike in and out of the crater.
