Service project in crater seeks volunteers
The Friends of Haleakala National Park are seeking volunteers for a service project in Haleakala Crater Dec. 7 through 9.
Participants will hike into and out of the crater, stay free in Kapalaoa Cabin, and work on protection of native plants in the crater wilderness. In addition to helping the environment and enjoying the fellowship of the volunteer group, participants will also have some time for hiking, star-gazing, photography or just relaxation.
The park entrance and cabin fees are waived for volunteers doing service work with the Friends of Haleakala National Park. Participants must be able to hike in and out of the crater.
To register, first visit the website www.fhnp.org where more information about the Friends’ mission and work to preserve and protect Haleakala National Park can be found. Register at the website and then send email to firstname.lastname@example.org for a reservation.
