Condo owners at The Vintage unite to help Maui Food Bank

The Vintage at Ka’anapali Ohana, a new condominium community relations group, has banded owners together to help the needy by collecting $1,350 and food items for the Maui Food Bank and more than 30 gift items for Toys for Tots in one of its first initiatives to promote the concept of a community within a community.

“It is amazing what a community can do when it comes together,” said Jim Fahnestock, leader of the new organization. “There are so many good causes condominiums can come together to support, and we want to encourage other condo groups to do what we hope to continue to do over time.

“Many new owners who come from the Mainland are strangers when they arrive, but they all have a lot in common. Many have been coming here for years, and they all love Maui.

“It is easy for new owners to continue to be strangers because they often come and go during the year. We want to do more to help everyone to become better acquainted and learn how to give back to the Lahaina community.”

The Vintage at Ka’anapali consists of 73 homes built in 2001, mauka of Hoonopiilani Highway, along the Ka’anapali Golf Course.
