Gifts given to Molokai CPS, foster homes
Maui Preparatory Academy students and the Will Smith Foundation delivered nearly 300 toys on to Child Protective Services and foster homes on Molokai last week.
Volunteers gathered and wrapped donated presents from stations in West Maui and delivered them to Molokai children, ages 2 to 17, at a Christmas party hosted by the Molokai police division.
Molokai High School student Patience Nakihei coordinated the effort, once the toys arrived on the island, as part of her senior project.
“We believe . . . that every child should get to experience the joy of opening at least one Christmas present,” said Susan Moulton, founder of the foundation. “This year, thanks to the many individuals and businesses that helped make the toy drive a success, many children will have that feeling.”
