Kihei Toastmasters Club installs new officers

The Kihei Toastmasters Club swore in new officers at a Jan. 7 meeting. Maui Area Gov. Donna Clayton installed the following officers: Wibitz Stewart, president; Ann Elaine Johnson, vice president of education and treasurer; Gayle Lewis, vice president of membership; Blanca Lafolette, vice president of public relations; Chris Bowers, secretary; and Franklin Feldman, sergeant-at-arms.

Toastmasters is an international organization dedicated to improving the communications skills and leadership abilities of its members in a fun and supportive atmosphere, according to a news release.

The Kihei Club meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month in the Garden Room at the Kalama Heights Retirement Residence, 101 Kanani Road, Kihei.

The club invites anyone who is interested in self-improvement to visit a club meeting. Besides the Kihei club, there are three other clubs on the island that are open to the community.

“New Year’s resolution time is a great time to begin a program to learn new skills or to finally conquer a fear of public speaking” says Johnson, a 23-year member.
