LHS SkillsUSA students earn medals and honors at conference

Seven Lahainaluna High School students participated in the 2014 Hawaii State Career and Technical Student Organization conference at the Hawaii Convention Center held Feb. 19-20.

Students represented Lahainaluna High School’s SkillsUSA program, a nationally recognized organization that teaches students leadership and technical skills in a variety of careers.

Students participated in technical skills competitions such as architectural drafting and carpentry robotics.

Students earned medals and honors in all competitions. Two students qualified to participate in the national competition June 23-27 in Kansas City, Mo.

Here are the results:

SkillsUSA Architectural Drafting: gold medal (national qualifier) – Levi Delos Reyes, silver medal – Gabrielle Catugal, bronze medal – Shelley Kurose.

SkillsUSA Carpentry: gold medal (national qualifier) – Bronson Vierra, and bronze medal – Justin Bishop Tinao.

SkillsUSA VEX Mobile Robotics Automation: bronze medal – Allen Constantino and Mark Cabida.
