Nominations sought for Filipino leadership awards
The Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2014 Gintong Pamana Leadership Awards to recognize the leadership and community service of outstanding members of the Maui Filipino community.
“We urge you to use this opportunity to honor a Filipino who, in 2013, has exhibited leadership and a dedication to community service,” said Kit Zulueta, who co-chairs the event with Lydia dela Cruz.
A nomination form is available at www.mauifilipinochamber.com; a summary of how a nominee showed leadership and community service in 2013 is requested, along with a resume and photo.
All nominations must be postmarked by May 15 and mailed to the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 331033, Kahului 96733, with special attention to Jorge Tirona, nominations chair.
“Gintong Pamana,” which means “golden legacy,” has been a prestigious Filipino award on Maui since its inception in 1995. The chamber has recognized past honorees such as Vince Bagoyo Jr. (1998), Richard Caldito (2006), Gilbert Keith-Agaran (1995), B. Martin Luna (1997) and Erlinda Rosario (1996).
The Gintong Pamana Leadership & Scholarship Awards Banquet will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 18 at the Maui Beach Hotel and will include the presentation of the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s 2014 scholarship recipients.
Tickets for the banquet are available for $50. Reservations can be made by contacting Zulueta at 291-9407 or dela Cruz at 385-8881.
