Preparations underway for annual St. Joseph Feast

St. Joseph Church and Early Learning Center will present the annual St. Joseph Feast on May 2 to 4.

Hours for the feast are 6 to 10 p.m. May 2, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 3, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4.

Food offerings will include malassadas, Portuguese soup, waffle dogs, chow fun, nachos, barbecue teriyaki, hamburgers and a wide selection of sweets and treats.

At 7 p.m. May 2 and 3, there will be a live auction featuring golf outings, gift certificates to dinner, hotels, activities, etc., donated by businesses throughout the state.

The traditional livestock auction will be held at 1 p.m. May 4.

The entertainment lineup includes Gomega, Marty Dread, Homestead, Rising Strong, Larry Golis, Sheron DePonte, Keaka Sardine, Mikey Mina, Paiva Brothers and Louis Kukaua, and Maui Taiko drummers. There will also be special appearances by Sponge Bob, Hello Kitty, Elmo and Cookie Monster for the children.

The first Upcountry Kendama Challenge will be presented by Kaleidoscope at 11 a.m. May 3, for ages 7 and up. Pre-registration ($2 nonrefundable registration fee) may be made in person at Kaleidoscope in Queen Ka’ahumanu Center or at the St. Joseph Church office.

There will also be games, crafters, a country store and plants, produce and flowers for sale.
