MHS students win prize in video competition

C-SPAN announced that students from Maui High School are winners in C-SPAN’s national 2014 StudentCam competition.

Austin Michael Alimbuyuguen and Joseph Griffith, juniors at Maui High School, will receive $250 for their honorable mention documentary “Economic Inequality.”

The national competition invites middle and high school students to produce a five- to seven-minute documentary on a national policy issue.

This year, students were asked to answer the question, “What’s the most important issue the U. S. Congress should consider in 2014?” In response, C-SPAN received 2,355 video submissions from more than 4,800 students in 46 states and Washington, D.C., according to a news release.
