Climate Reality Leader will speak at community meeting

Christine Andrews will be the featured speaker at the Waikapu Community Association General Membership meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Waikapu Community Center.

Andrews will discuss the state of climate science and, specifically, the National Climate Assessment Report chapter on Hawaii and the Pacific Islands, which describes specifically how climate change will affect Hawaii.

Andrews is a Climate Reality Leader with the Climate Reality Project, according to an announcement. Climate Reality Leaders are trained by the chairman and founder of the Climate Reality Project, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, to educate others about climate change.

Andrews is a graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law.

Her peer-reviewed articles on the topic of science and technology education have been published by the American Society for Engineering Education, the Society of Women Engineers and the Institute for Women’s Policy Research.

She advises community organizations and stakeholders on policy and compliance issues related to climate change, renewable energy, air quality and electric transportation.
