Joel Bumanglag of Lahaina recently received his master’s degree in higher and post-secondary education from Arizona State University in Tempe during in ceremonies held in May.

His master’s dissertation centered on designing and performing a small-scale action research study which focused on examining the academic success perceptions and satisfaction of student-athletes at a Division I institution in the PAC-12 Conference.

He is currently employed by ASU as a financial aid counselor with the office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services.

Bumanglag received his Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences from ASU in May 2012. He graduated cum laude from Lahainaluna High School in 2008, where he served as senate president.

Zoe Santos of Haiku graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in environmental science from Colorado College in Colorado Springs. Colorado College awarded 566 undergraduate degrees at its 132nd commencement, held May 19 outdoors on Armstrong Quad.

Kate Anusewicz of Kihei graduated from the University of Hartford in Hartford, Conn., during its graduate commencement ceremony on May 17. Anusewicz earned a doctor of physical therapy from the university’s College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions.

Sierra D. Brown of Makawao received a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience during graduation ceremonies at Boston University in Boston in May.

Karen Temple of Wailuku received a master of laws in estate planning and elder law degree from Western New England University on May 17. Western New England University is in Springfield, Mass.
