Hardware Science programs for keiki

In celebration of the 2014 Hawaii State Public Library System Children’s Summer Reading Program, HouseMart Ace Hardware and HouseMart Ben Franklin Crafts will present “Hardware Science,” a free event at four Maui public libraries through July 8.

Children ages 8 and older are invited to explore all things related to science and will learn some science, technology, engineering, arts and math concepts. In this one-hour program, children will experience live science demonstrations using simple equipment and tools, according to an announcement.

This year’s Children’s Summer Reading Program theme, “Fizz, Boom, Read,” will allow children – preschool age to those entering the 6th grade – to experiment with building lava lamps, launching rockets and creating a solar system mobile.

The “Hardware Science” schedule and contact number for the libraries follows:

* 10 a.m. Thursday, Lahaina Public Library, 662-3950.
