Lawn & Garden Fair at Maui Mall on Saturday

The Maui Association of Landscape Professionals and more than 20 green-industry vendors and nonprofits will kick off the summer gardening season at the 19th Annual Lawn & Garden Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Maui Mall. This year’s theme is edible landscapes.

Experts will be on hand to assist with horticultural diagnosis and consultation. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day.

Attendees are encouraged to see the fifth annual ArtScapes – A Living Art Exhibition and cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award.

“ArtScapes entries in the past years have given the public a chance to experience creative and fresh new ideas for their own gardens and meet the people who created them,” said Gary Mohrlang, MALP board member.

Soil pH testing and plant problem diagnosis will be available for people who bring samples.

For soil testing, prepare a total of 2 cups collected from various areas of a property. For ailing plants, bring a sample in a bag. Insect pest samples should be brought in a sealed container for identification and advice.

The event is free and open to all. It is made possible with funding from the Maui County Farm Bureau, Hawaii Grower Products, the Maui Mall and Pukalani Plant Co.
