Makawao Public Library to host three events
Makawao Public Library will hold a series of summer events this month covering Google, Google Earth and astronomy.
The events follow:
* “Google It! Google Searching,” 6 p.m. Monday. Al Bayless, Internet computer class instructor at Kaunoa Senior Center, will cover how to use Google for searching the Internet. A valid Hawaii library card is required to surf the net at the library. Participants should arrive at 5:45 p.m. to set up their computers with the wireless connection. The 95-minute program is suitable for those ages 12 and older.
* “Enjoy an Earth-in-Space Birthday Party,” 10 a.m. Saturday, Children’s Section. Harriet Witt, an award-winning science writer and co-founder of the Keiki-Kupuna Orbit Project, will present ways to celebrate an “orbital” birthday party. The one-hour program is suitable for ages 8 and older.
* “Google Earth,” 6 p.m. June 23. Bayless will discuss how to use Google Earth, a program that shows satellite images of the Earth. Participants should arrive at 5:45 p.m. to set up their computers. The 95-minute program is suitable for those 12 and older.
