Taiko groups perform for Hawaii

FIRST PHOTO: With hundreds in attendance July 6, four taiko groups from disaster-stricken Fukushima, Japan, put on a free Mahalo Hawaii: Drums of Fukushima Sunset Concert at Lahaina Jodo Mission to honor and thank the many generous organizations, individuals and businesses that assisted the people of Japan following the Tohoku earthquake and ensuing tsunami and nuclear disaster of March 2011.

SECOND PHOTO: The pounding of drums and outpouring of energy from more than 50 taiko players was accented by the Japanese pagoda standing directly in the background and the watchful eye of the temple’s giant statue of Buddha.
