Maui Memorial Medical Center and Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation sponsored the event. It was coordinated by Laurence Muleh, Maui High School art director, and Anne Marie Jacintho.
The winners were given certificates of recognition signed by Gov. David Ige and presented by Leah Belmonte. Lisa Varde from the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation presented the awards to:
• First Place — Jermaine Matela, 12th grade, Maui High School.
• Runner Up — Carmen Villaverde, 12th grade, Maui High School.
Latex Allergy Awareness Week was observed Oct. 2-8. A proclamation by Mayor Alan Arakawa was presented by Jan Shishido, deputy director of the county Department of Housing and Human Concerns. Also presenting proclamations were state Rep. Lynn DeCoite on behalf of the Legislature, and Leah Belmonte, Gov. David Ige’s Maui liaison.
