Donation from 100 Men Who Care to benefit Habitat for Humanity

The 100 Men Who Care Maui group has selected Habitat for Humanity Maui as this quarter’s recipient of the group’s funding. To date, Habitat for Humanity Maui has received $4,000.

The 100 Men Who Care Maui is a giving circle in which members nominate local organizations for possible funding.

The group meets four times a year to jointly vote for a local charity or not-for-profit organization.

Each member agrees to write a $100 check to the selected organization and watches how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000 or more donation.

“We are so appreciative to have been selected to receive donations from the 100 Men Who Care group here on Maui,” said Habitat Maui Community Relations Director Max Tornai. “These funds go a long way in helping us make critical safety repairs for homeowners who otherwise couldn’t afford them. Often our homeowners are kupuna on a fixed income. Habitat Maui is able to organize volunteers, deal with the logistics of buying and delivering materials, and oversee construction so that the homeowner is able to get the needed repairs done quickly.”

Habitat Maui also utilizes donations to build new housing and is in the process of building a new home in Waiehu and its first new home on Lanai. Habitat Maui additionally has upcoming plans for homes in Lahaina and Hana.
