Betty Leis

Maui philanthropist Betty Leis will be honored at the American Heart Association’s 2016 Go Red for Women Luncheon and Health Expo on Nov. 19 at the Fairmont Kea Lani Resort in Wailea. The health expo will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and the luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Leis, who is a longtime supporter of AHA’s work in Hawaii, will be recognized as the inaugural “Legendary Woman with Heart” for her support of efforts to improve health and quality of life in the state. She is also a supporter of A Keiki’s Dream, the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Maui, Women Helping Women, the Kurt Suzuki Clinic and Hale Kau Kau, among other organizations.

Guests at this year’s Health Expo will be treated to free health screenings, mini-massages, CPR training, a healthful cooking demonstration and a chance to bid on prizes at a silent auction. The luncheon will feature a three-course meal prepared by Fairmont Kea Lani Resort Chef Tylun Pang, and a women’s fashion show by Macy’s featuring heart disease and stroke survivors.

Tickets for the event can be purchased by logging on to mauigoredluncheon.heart.org, or by calling 244-7185. Tickets range in price from $2,500 for a premium table for 10, $1,500 for a Go Red table and $150 for individual tickets.

The Go Red Luncheon is sponsored nationally by Macy’s and locally by Maui Electric Co., Kaiser Permanente and Goodfellow Bros.
