Kelly Pearson recognized for serving the youth of Maui
During a recent 20-year anniversary celebration hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui staff, Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa issued a proclamation naming Aug. 4 as “Kelly Pearson Day” in honor of her 20-year commitment to the youth of Maui.
Pearson has been serving Maui’s young people since 1997, starting at the Maui Youth Centers.
In 2000, Maui Youth Centers became affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to become Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui.
From 2000 to 2014, Pearson served as the director of operations for BGCM and in 2014 was named chief executive officer.
“Because of Kelly’s dedication for the past 20 years, tens of thousands of Maui youths have been able to participate in life-changing programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui,” said Chris Minford, president of the BGCM board of directors.
“Kelly truly lives the mission statement of Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens,” he added.
