Promoting smoke-free cars for keiki

Diane Omura (right), a Peer Education coordinator from Baldwin High School, and her Peer Education Program students attended a national traffic safety conference in Sacramento, Calif., from July 15 to 18. The students are Jade Renee Holokai (from left), Tenania Eldridge, Aaliyah Sistoza-Mortel and Sierra Sales. Sales was selected as student of the year at the conference. The team presented “Breathe Aloha,” which highlighted their work advocating SB261, the smoke-free cars for keiki bill, at a Kick Butt event at the state Capitol on Oahu. The bill was crafted by the Coalition for Tobacco Free Hawaii and Hawaii Public Health Institute.
