The public was offered an opportunity to meet crew members of Hokule’a, including Maui’s Kalepa, Billy Richards and navigator Nainoa Thompson.

The $3,045 raised at the event from the 87 tickets sold went to the Pu’u Kukui Watershed Preserve to help defray costs of 4,000 koa trees planted in the West Maui preserve during Hokule’a’s visit to Maui from Aug. 17 to 20.

Honolua Bay was the first stop on the voyaging canoe’s Hokule’a’s Mahalo, Hawai’i Sail.
