Libraries will present September events
The Kihei and Wailuku Public Libraries are offering the following free events this month:
Kihei Public Library
• Saturday, 10:30 a.m. — Octopus Kids Yoga presents: “A Very Hungry Caterpillar” — Yoga Style! Keiki (ages 2 to 8 although all ages welcome) are invited to join this class, featuring Eric Carle’s classic “A Very Hungry Caterpillar” set to yoga poses. Young keiki must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver; bring a mat if available.
• Sept. 20, 3 p.m. — Discovering the Classics with Papa Lopaka. Keiki (ages 6 and older) can join Papa Lopaka (Robert DeVinck) for a dramatic reading of the Classics Illustrated comic book “The Spy” by James Fenimore Cooper. A brief discussion and Q&A session will follow.
• Sept. 30, 10:30 a.m. — Hair-Raising Science. The Maui Science Center team will teach keiki (ages 7 and older) about static electricity and circuits with hair-raising and interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities and exhibits.
Wailuku Public Library
• Sept. 21, 6 p.m. — Your Voice. Discover how to make a difference in the state legislative process. Virginia Beck of the Hawaii Legislature’s Public Access Room will present a workshop to help people understand the legislative process and acquire information, such as tips and techniques on effective lobbying, testimony and communicating with senators and representatives.
