One-week coin drive raises more than $6,400 for victims of recent hurricanes

Seabury Hall’s student council recently organized a one-week coin drive to help victims of recent hurricanes.

The student council created a competition between the classes (grades 6 through 12) to energize the fundraiser. After seven days and many pounds of coins, a total of $6,449.07 was raised. The senior class won the competition by raising the most money.

On Oct. 2, student council President Clair Peck and Treasurer Angela Schmitt presented a check in an assembly to the American Red Cross for $6,449.07. Receiving the check were American Red Cross volunteer Anne Keyser and American Red Cross shelter manager Aloha Smith, who expressed their gratitude
