Wellness day planned at Lanai health center
Lana’i Community Health Center will present the fourth annual Susan G. Komen Ohana Wellness Day from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at its health care facility located at 333 6th St. in Lanai City. This year’s event offers free health care screenings, flu shots, breast health education, Zumba and tai chi, wellness booths and prizes.
“We are very excited for this year’s event,” said Diana Shaw, LCHC executive director. “Our organization is fortunate to partner with Susan G. Komen each year to host this event for the Lanai community. Beyond health and wellness, our hope is to encourage everyone in our community to eat healthy, get more exercise and schedule regular doctor visits and preventative screenings.”
The event will begin with a Memory Walk around Dole Park honoring friends and family members who have been affected by breast cancer. Registration opens at 7 a.m. and the walk begins at 7:30. Participants are encouraged to wear pink.
Free health services offered from 8 to 11 a.m. include breast health education, flu shots, dental and blood pressure checks, prediabetes screening, minor eyeglass repair, family planning, tobacco cessation and more. Ohana Wellness Day is open to community members of all ages.
“It is important to support wellness for everyone in the Lanai community,” said Shaw. “We are committed to providing quality health care and offering medical support to our island ohana.”
