Master calligrapher to share his craft

The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui President Brian Sato announced that Koki Takehara, a master of Japanese calligraphy, will share his talent on the stage of Queen Ka’ahumanu Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Takehara will be drawing giant images on the stage with his brush that is as big as he is. Born in Okayama prefecture, Japan, in 1975, Takehara began calligraphy classes at age four and received the highest award from the Japanese national exhibition in 1989 and 1990. In 2009, he began his career as a professional calligrapher.
