The Kihei Elementary School Student Council sponsored a toy drive for children who receive support and services from Maui Family Support Services.

Thirty-six grade-level classrooms each provided up to three gently used toys for the community service project.

More than 125 toys were collected and delivered to the organization.

Student Council Member Alyssa McDonald, a 5th-grader, said: “The most enjoyable part of this project was helping other children.”

“The most important thing I learned about this project is sharing is caring,” added Student Council Member Samantha Lum, a 3rd-grader.

The Kihei Elementary Student Council is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, which supports students in providing community service opportunities for groups in Maui County. The student council is led by advisers Alaina Valite, Michelle Bonilla and Joanne Laird.
