Kiwanians spruce up bus stop
Les Arakaki (left) and Dave Rudd were among three Kiwanians and a friendly neighbor who trimmed overhanging limbs from the Kiwanis bus stop at Paukukalo on Labor Day. Arakaki, Rudd and Bob Hanusa, as well as an across-the-highway friend, James Plunkett, who, along with his brother, keeps the area around the bus stop mowed periodically, spent an hour trimming overhanging branches from the tree behind the bus stop. The Paukukalo bus stop is one of five that were built around the island during the 1980s by the Kiwanis Club of Maui, which has maintained them ever since. The bus stop is also used by The Maui Bus as a regular stop.
