Maui’s largest digital church organ will be featured in a free concert at 7 p.m. Friday at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Wailuku. This concert is co-sponsored by St. Anthony Church and Church Organs Hawaii.

Performing on the Allen Organ will be Rick Mazurowski, organist and choir director at Hilo’s Church of the Holy Apostles and featured organist at Hilo’s Historic Palace Theatre. The program will include favorites of Bach, Mozart, Gounod and original compositions by Mazurowski.

Also, trumpeter Cody Sarmiento will perform the David Johnson “Trumpet Tune in D” accompanied by Mazurowski on the organ.

The organ was built by the Allen Organ Co. in Pennsylvania, the largest builder of church organs in the world. It was installed in 2005. This organ is similar in size to the Allen Organ that was recently installed in the Vatican’s Basilica of Saint Peter for accompanying the Sistine Chapel Choir and was featured in the worldwide broadcast of the pope’s Christmas Eve Mass. The St. Anthony organ includes digital sampling from the finest pipe organs in the U.S. and Europe.

Church Organs Hawaii, owned by Bob Alder and Jude Oliver, is based in Hilo.

Mazurowski is a lifelong member of the American Guild of Organists. He is a retired pilot from Delta Airlines.
