Latex allergy awareness theme of school creativity contest
The fourth annual award ceremony for the Maui County Middle & High School Latex Allergy Awareness Creativity Contest, co-sponsored by Maui Health Systems, Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation and Maui Memorial Medical Center, took place Oct. 10.
This year’s theme was “Truths of Living with a Latex Allergy.” The student art pieces helped to illustrate the theme, as well as the keys to living a full and active life with a latex allergy. The winners were:
• First Place — Karina Lynch, Maui High School senior. Piece title: “Isolation.”
• Second Place — Juliana Andrade, Maui High School senior. Piece title: “Surrounded.”
• Honorable Mention — Camyrn Ehlers, Maui High School senior. Piece title: “Exposure”; Rashley Faye Villamer, Maui High School senior. Piece title: “United to Protect”; Kiliohu Robis, Maui High School senior. Piece title: “Trapped.”
