Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset will host ‘Friendraiser’ in Kaanapali

Maui residents are invited to attend a “Friendraiser” hosted by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant located at the Royal Lahaina Resort, 2780 Kekaa Drive in Kaanapali.

Attendees will learn about the local, regional, national and international projects of this award-winning Rotary Club. The club will provide complimentary pupu and there will be a no-host bar with happy hour drink prices until 6.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, West Maui’s evening Rotary club, is beginning its fifth year of service to the West Maui community.

The club has been named Rotary’s Small Club of the Year in the Hawaiian Islands for the past three consecutive years.

“We’re proud of our service to this community,” said Ryan Beenken, club president-elect. “And there is so much more we want to do. Our goal with this ‘Friendraiser’ is to meet some new friends, folks who may be willing to join us in tackling big things here in West Maui.”

This club has co-sponsored with Malama Maui Nui the Third Saturday Recycling program at the Lahaina Cannery Mall since 2015.

Known as the “Go for the Green” Rotary Club, it also provides scholarships to high school graduates who will major in environmental studies, and has just received county approval to install 22 rescue tubes on West Maui beaches.

“We know that Maui residents are looking for ways to give back to this community,” said President Heidi Dollinger. “Rotary provides the perfect avenue to do this. In Rotary we believe many hands make light work. Rotary members gladly volunteer our time, and we always get back more than we give.”
