The right kite for the job
With light winds keeping most other kite boarders and windsurfers on the beach, Bourke Cashmore of Flagstaff, Ariz., uses one of the biggest kites in kite surfing, a 21-meter Flysurfer, to skim across the water at Kanaha on Wednesday afternoon.
Second photo: Friend John Mulligan of Chandler, Ariz., said the conditions may not be the best but they were still fun. “We’re just happy to be here,” Mulligan said. “At my house this morning it was 23 degrees and at his (Cashmore’s) house it was about 3 degrees. He lives up in the mountains.”
