Tournament runs afoul of wind, rain

FIRST PHOTO: Tournament Director Nancy Cross makes a call on her radio after play was canceled because of windy and rainy conditions Saturday for the PGA Tour’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions at the Kapalua Plantation Course. The tournament was delayed until today, with the event reduced to 54 holes. The first tee time is scheduled for 7:10 a.m. The tournament is set to end Monday.

SECOND PHOTO: Raindrops cover a scale model Hyundai car tee marker on the first tee Saturday morning. In a 24-hour period ending at 2 p.m. Saturday, a rain gauge at Kaupo Gap recorded 5.4 inches and one at Puu Kukui in the West Maui Mountains reported 4.23 inches.
