Man sentenced to 100 years in prison
WAILUKU — A Wailuku man convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl over a five-year period was sentenced Friday to a 100-year prison term.
The sentence for William Barrios, 46, was imposed after a jury last year found him guilty of 72 counts of first-degree sexual assault, 72 counts of third-degree sexual assault and two counts of kidnapping for acts that occurred from 2004 to 2009. The girl was 8 years old when the sexual assaults began.
“You showed no remorse then,” 2nd Circuit Judge Rhonda Loo told Barrios as she imposed the sentence. “You’ve shown no remorse now. Your behavior is that of a twisted, sick person. The trauma that you inflicted will have long-lasting effects.”
Loo ordered that Barrios serve some of the prison terms consecutively for a total of 100 years.
