Drowning victim identified

A man who was pronounced dead after he was pulled from the ocean off Kamaole Beach Park III on Tuesday has been identified as Glen Burlingame, 49, of Vancouver, Wash., police said.

He and his wife had been snorkeling 10 to 15 yards offshore at about 10:45 a.m. when she turned and saw him floating face down in the water, said Lt. Jayson Rego of the Criminal Investigation Division. Burlingame’s wife swam back to shore with him, where bystanders helped bring him to the beach and began efforts to revive him.

County lifeguards and firefighters arrived to continue efforts to revive the man before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
