Event focus is on cloud computing

A Hawaii-based company is partnering with Google and Acumatica to help business, government and education organizations learn about how cloud-based technology can save them time and money.

The company, Koa Hills Consulting, will be hosting a free workshop April 24 at the Courtyard Maui Kahului Airport. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. for the Google session and at 1 p.m. for the Acumatica session.

Cloud-based technology, or systems that operate entirely on the Web, are increasingly used by businesses to improve efficiency and save time. These technologies can dramatically lower hardware infrastructure costs, while improving mobile device access, disaster recovery, collaboration, real-time reporting and system administration.

The morning session will feature a tutorial on how to use Google Apps, which include email, document sharing, chat and video functionality.

In the afternoon, Acumatica, an international organization that provides cloud applications for small- and midsized businesses, will demonstrate how businesses can streamline their financial accounting using new cloud-based technology.
