Hale Makua to hold open house

Hale Makua Health Services will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 7 at its residential care home, located at 1540 Lower Main St. in Wailuku.

All bedrooms, the library and the dining room have been refurbished recently. Private and semiprivate rooms all include a private bathroom and have garden views, according to an announcement.

The facility was designed for people living with memory loss or dementia.

“The home features lots of open air space monitored by motion sensors and door sensors to alert the staff to unexpected movement or activity,” the announcement says. “In addition, Care Homes features iHealthHome, an advanced monitoring and communication technology that allows family to interact with their loved one through sharing pictures and video chats, to communicate with care home staff and to view their loved one’s health information online.”

The care home is targeted to serve adults in need of minimal to moderate personal care needs who are able to walk on their own or with the aid of a cane or a walker.

Residents receive 24-hour supervision and care from a staff under the supervision of a registered nurse.
