More Wailuku residents to be affected by water project
More Wailuku residents will be without water tonight because of an overnight waterline improvement project, according to an updated announcement today from the county Department of Water Supply.
Work will begin at 9:30 p.m. today to install to main line valves on Mission and Vineyard streets. The project is scheduled to be completed at 5 a.m. Friday.
Also affected by the water outage will be customers on Kaniela and Mission streets along with Central Avenue, running from Main Street to Mill Street.
Others affected are residents of Loke and Wailani streets; Vineyard Street from Central Avenue to its east end; Kaniela Street from Vineyard to Mill Street; Mission Street from Vineyard to Mill; Central Avenue from North Street to Mill and Mill Street from Central Avenue to Mission.
Traffic should not be affected, but motorists are advised to drive with caution in the area.
Customers may want to flush their waterlines for a short time on Friday morning to ensure that no sediment has accumulated in their waterlines during the project. Affected customers are advised to store water for the night if needed.
