DLNR expert to discuss reef matters

An education specialist with the state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Aquatic Resources will discuss coral reef trends, threats and management from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pacific Whale Foundation’s Discovery Center near Maalaea Harbor.

Russell Sparks, an aquatic biologist, will talk about the “State of the Reef.” He has worked as the education specialist with DLNR on Maui since 1998.

The presentation is part of the Pacific Whale Foundation’s Making Waves Lecture Series held every other month on the third Thursday of that month.
