Maui Native Hawaiian chamber to meet June 11

Paul Laub, president of the Maui County Veterans’ Council and West Maui Veterans’ Club, will be the keynote speaker at the Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce general meeting June 11.

Laub will speak about leadership and nonprofit groups’ need for leaders who pull in new members to share with the work, otherwise organizations “run out of steam” by the work of a few committed members.

Also on the agenda is the nomination and election of directors for the coming year. The meeting is open to the public and will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu.

There will be a half-hour networking session prior to the buffet dinner and meeting at 6 p.m. The event costs $20 for members, $25 for guests. Participants need to RSVP by Friday to Kai Pelayo at 874-2426 or send email to kai.pelayo@waldorfastoria.com.

Membership is open to business owners who are not ethnically Hawaiian but who share the organization’s mission, which includes promoting and sustaining Hawaiian values and culture.
