Parks department seeks community input

An online survey is being conducted to gather community input on how the county Department of Parks and Recreation can improve park facilities and recreational programs, according to an announcement.

The survey can be found at Hard copies can be picked up at any parks district office. Input will be gathered through mid-July.

The project aims to help develop the direction, priorities and purpose of future facilities, programs and operations.

Information will be gathered in the following categories:

* Effectiveness of existing and need for additional recreational programs, facilities and amenities.

* Evaluation of the parks’ permitting process and current facility maintenance.

* Current usage of existing facilities and programs.

* Priorities for future parks department funding.

The survey will take an estimated 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

“The outcome of the survey will enrich the future of our community and positively affect the lives of Maui County residents and visitors who utilize DPR facilities and programs on a daily basis,” said Brianne Savage, deputy parks director. “We want to hear from the public about their priorities, what they believe the department is doing well and what needs to be improved.”
