Amphibious outing a one-time thing

Mark Silva of 808 Towing winches a Nissan Frontier onto the bed of his tow truck Wednesday morning near an area known as Cut Mountain on the west side. Silva said he had to strip down to his underwear and wade out into the ocean to attach the cable to the truck to bring it ashore. The truck’s owner, who declined to be identified, said a friend who borrowed the vehicle pulled up to the shoreline and got out of the truck, which then rolled down the beach into the ocean. “I think he just parked over here, and it ran away on him,” he said. After being rolled around in the waves, the truck was determined to be a total loss, he said.
