Hawaiian adds flights to Oakland, alters schedule
Saying it’s answering a call for more flight options between Hawaii and the San Francisco Bay Area, Hawaiian Airlines will offer daily flights from Honolulu to Oakland beginning Jan. 5, the airline announced.
Daily service between Kahului and Oakland will continue, although with slightly different departure and arrival times, the announcement said.
The revised schedule will have daily Kahului-to-Oakland flights departing at 1 p.m. and arriving at 8:05 p.m (PDT), with the return flight leaving Oakland at 8:20 a.m. (PDT) and arriving in Hawaii at 11:40 a.m. The new flight times begin Jan. 1.
Currently, the airline flies between Honolulu and Oakland directly four times a week. The daily flights will boost air seats to Oahu by 75 percent.
Also, Hawaiian Airlines will start a new summer service between Lihue and Oakland three times a week (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday) and Kona and Oakland four days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday). Those flights will begin in mid-June and fly until mid-August 2014.
The flights are expected to add 18,200 seats to Kauai and the Big Island.
“We want to give travelers in the greater Bay Area even more reason to start dreaming about getting away to our beautiful islands and all there is to enjoy,” said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer.
